BRITISH MERCHANT NAVY CADET TRAINING SHIPS
BRITISH AND COMMONWEALTH
Information received to date indicates that the British and Commonwealth Shipping Company operated at least one cadet training ship – Kinnaird Castle – and maybe another – Kinpurnie Castle.
Apparently, Kinnaird Castle carried 12 cadets together with a dedicated Cadet Training Officer. Cadets would spend six months on Kinnaird Castle before being transferred to other ships within the Company.
However, it would appear that Kinnaird Castle also carried a normal complement of ordinary seamen; if so, she would not meet the cadet training ship criteria specified for this web site.
Further information on this Company and its cadet training operation would be most welcome.
